New Teen Center at West Marin School Shown Off by Lions Club, Its Sponsor  A building once scheduled for demolition will soon open as a teen center, thanks to the efforts of the West Marin Lions Club.  KWMR's George Clyde speaks with Madeline Hope about starting up the project, with Larry Brown who volunteered to do most of the work, with his teenage son Miles Brown, and with interim director Chris Eckert.

Hands-On Demos as Marshall Disaster Council Puts On a Fair  Marshall residents learned hands-only CPR, how to save hypothermia victims, setting up shelters, emergency radio and much more as locals taught and learned what to do when disaster strikes. Students from West Marin School Sing and Learn at Park Citizenship Ceremony  Park Superintendent Cicely Muldoon opened the second annual naturalization ceremony for 19 new American citizens at the Seashore. The 5^th and 6^th graders sang the National Anthem, and 8^th grade teacher Julie Cassel brought her students as a civics lesson.  Gus Conde, who was naturalized many years ago, tells George Clyde what it means to him and others to gain citizenship and voting rights.

Former Interns Celebrate the Palomarin Field Station's 45^th Birthday   Naturalist Claire Peaslee of Pt. Reyes Station reports on the annual bird migration this year and tells about Saturday's event for the Palomarin Field Station, the former headquarters of the Point Reyes Bird Observatory (now PRBO Conservation Science).

The Marin Community Foundation Awards $750K of its $1 Million Commitment for Farm Worker Housing to the Marin Workforce Housing Trust of San Rafael - The Trust will leverage the funds to establish a pilot program for about 10 agricultural housing units, some to be on ranches by next year.  Executive Director Linda Wagner tells George Clyde about the program and some of the issues that the Trust is addressing.

It's the Rutting Season for the Tule Elk, Sights and Sounds Not to be Missed  KWMR's George Clyde joins Seashore Wildlife Ecologist David Press to see - and hear - the herd of 450 tule elk at Tomales Point as the males trumpet and use their massive antlers to spar with each other. Proposal for New Health Center Spurs Consideration of Other Uses  for the Mesa Road Lot Just South of the Playground and Public Restrooms  Herb Kutchins reports that a committee of the Point Reyes Village Association wants to study various planning opportunities for the County property before vetting the health-center project that Michael Mery and Suzanne Speh are promoting there.  For more information about the health center proposal, click here.
