Round Up: “Not Horsing Around”

“Not Horsing Around”
April 29, 2025
During this Spring Pledge Drive I was out for a run. I have always promised myself, ever since getting this job 15 years ago, that I would not short myself on my workouts, regardless of how busy I might get. And we get very busy during these fundraisers.
I was listening to an archive of “Running with Scissors” since it’s good running music (I leave the scissors at home). And I got around the back side of the Morgan Horse Ranch and six horses were grazing across the field. I stopped and stood by the fence, and slowly and cautiously the horses began to amble their way over toward me. I just waited.

Soon they were up to the fence, checking me out, as I was checking them out. They are really beautiful creatures, and when I don’t have Waylon with me (he gets a little worked up around the horses), I try to commune with them.
And commune I did as I enjoyed one of my favorite views in West Marin – looking out across the Olema Valley to the Bolinas Ridge. Everything is so green right now. With the exception of seasonal allergies, enjoy all this!
We have three short days left in our once a year Pledge Drive and we have raised just over $47,000 towards our $100,000 goal. The programs have been great! We have had some wonderful interactions with folks who have stopped by the station, or called in to pledge.
We have a way to go in order to make our goal. This fundraising is not extra, it is our once-per year drive to raise much needed operating funds for the station. If you have already contributed, we thank you. If you have yet to participate in this fundraising effort, please do so now.
Any amount moves us towards our goal. If you cannot give as much as you have in the past, we get it, don’t feel weird about it. These are weird times.
Earlier this week we learned that a fellow KWMR Programmer, Bill Steele, had passed away. Bill hosted the program “Night Flight” from 2015 to 2023 when he took a break to deal with some health challenges. Last night we celebrated Bill on the Monday Mix show. You can hear the archive HERE.

And we are not horsing around down here. We have a big party planned that is open to everyone. There will be food and drink for sale, and some great music that will get you dancing. Please join us at KWMR Day this Friday at the Dance Palace from 5pm – 10pm.
We are waiting patiently for you to amble over to donate.
Thank you in advance for Supporting KWMR.
