Round Up: ”So much good news!”

”So much good news!”
October 14, 2025
I have a lot to tell you, hang in there with me.
“Whew,” is what I have to say about the past week or so. Parachute Days was such a great event. Big thanks to Gabe Korty for pioneering and pulling together the series, and to Chris Giacomini and his crew at Toby’s for the space. It was a lot of work, but it was great and raised some funds for KWMR.
Fundraiser at the Western Tonight!
Tonight (Tuesday, October 14), there will be two great singer/songwriters performing an intimate show at the Western, starting at 7 PM. Come on out and enjoy some tunes performed by KWMR’s own Program Director, Jeff Manson, and my brother, Ian Jones, who is in town for a hot minute.
Boosting Our Signal
KWMR applied for, and received a Construction Permit from the FCC (Federal Telecommunications Commission) to put a booster in Tomales to help the town tune in to KWMR. The signal is pretty bad in the town of Tomales, even though you can tune in up in Gualala and out at sea. More to come on this cool project which should be completed before the end of 2025. KWMR will “boost” the 90.5 FM signal, so no new frequencies will be necessary. Stay tuned for more information.
Get Text Alerts from KWMR!
You can now opt in to KWMR’s Message Station Maker to receive texts when KWMR is broadcasting emergency information. This innovative project came on the heels of a West Marin Fund granted project in 2023 to permit KWMR to automatically translate emergency messages into Spanish. You may have heard robotic voices giving out important information (thankfully not very often). Click HERE to sign up!
The idea came after hearing from many listeners that it is annoying to have to tune in every 30 minutes (more frequently if necessary) to hear updates. Now you can opt in to receive a text message when KWMR updates the information. Of course we will still broadcast the messages every 30 minutes (or more frequently if necessary) and update them when there is any change to the status of an incident, but you will only get a text when the information changes. It’s easy to SIGN UP for the texts.
What is really cool is that KWMR applied for, and received a second grant from West Marin Fund to have this product developed, and now that it exists, anyone can sign up and use it! Check out the website and if you have any questions, reach out to them. This new application might be just what your organization needs!
Wait, there’s more…
Tickets to KWMR’s benefit hosted by Cheryl Cahill at the Station House Cafe on December 4th go on sale next week! You will want to be there for a special concert with Jesse DeNatale. KWMR is partnering with FAR Familias Afectadas de Rancho to promote an upcoming fundraiser (TBA), and it is Cartbober, so if you have an old junker looking for a new home, donate it to KWMR!
I am so proud of KWMR. I have the greatest coworkers! It’s such a collaborative place. I’m lucky to work here. Losing our funding has been a big blow, but we are persevere!
Thank you for your support!

KWMR Station Manager, Executive Director & Development
