“Bridges”

⚡ December 16, 2025 ⚡

I am going to trust that you all got your online orders in on time for holiday delivery! Plus, a late present is like a bonus! Go for it. Thanks for sharing KWMR swag with you peeps. If you missed that boat, and want to snag some local merch: we have some stuff! (see below). Reach out.

A bridge can be so many things: a card game, part of your nose, where the strings rest on a guitar, a great part of a song, how atoms are joined together, where you rest your pool cue, and a way to cross a body of water or other such chasm. It’s a cool word.

This past week, KWMR learned that a Bridge Grant from the Public Media Company that was applied for had been granted to KWMR. This is great news. It is not a replacement for losing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting funding, but it will help.

I feel like it is the difference between falling right off a cliff and having a runway on which to land safely and come up with solid plans for the future of KWMR. This funding, along with so many of you stepping up your giving, and people making first time and sustaining donations (Calendar Club) is a true lifeline.

And we feel the love. The team here is working hard to achieve our existing fundraising goals while looking at strategic ways that KWMR can be meaningful to even more listeners. I would love to hear from you if you listen to KWMR and live outside of our immediate villages. I know that the signal comes in up north and in Western Sonoma County. Drop me a line and I’ll be in touch.

And has been the trend of late, more interest and excitement about joining the KWMR airwaves is afoot! You might hear Johnny Dollar on the airwaves. He’s the newest “man on the street.” And check out Dianne O’Neal covering “Acoustic Afternoon” this past week. Good stuff. Her brand new show “Here and Open” will debut on the KWMR airwaves soon.

And exciting news that the FAR (Familias Afectadas de Rancho) is very close to meeting their goal. They are ready to distribute funds to the families that have lost their employment and will soon lose the place that they live on the ranches. Feel free to contribute.

Micah of “Huglife Radio” is a student at Lagunitas School. His 8th grade project is to be a KWMR Youth Board Representative, and his project is to get KWMR ready to live stream video of our programming on the world wide web! Stay tuned on how to watch people do their thing in the studio.

I do radio so you can’t see me, but apparently there are people that want to see things like that, so we are going to go for it. If you want to see me, go to the Point Reyes Post Office around 11 AM most weekdays, or attend a KWMR event – like the Holiday Play “A Christmas Carol” on December 27th. Get your tickets HERE. There are two showings at the Tomales Town Hall!

Thank you for your support!
