Round Up: ”Shadow Dancing”

“Shadow Dancing”
⚡ February 3, 2026 ⚡
Good old Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow at Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania on Monday. Six more months of winter. He saw it last year, too. I feel for my friends who are enduring the brunt of winter storms with snow and ice and deeply freezing temperatures in many parts of the USA.
I really thought there would be a video of a groundhog with the music from Andy Gibb’s “Shadow Dancing,” but there is not. So, we made one:
I started weeding in earnest this weekend. I was putting it off since I jumped on the weeding bandwagon early last year and due to late spring rain showers, ended up doing the brunt of the work twice. But walking by flower beds busting out with grass and other weeds was driving me nuts. So I dug in – literally.
I was heartened by the large number of messages I received from folks who also like pruning! Prune on, pruners!
I think it is time for an update on KWMR’s current situation for all of you. First off, thank you all for your ongoing support with donations, upgraded Calendar Club participation, sweet and encouraging notes, and for attending KWMR events!
- The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has completely shut down.
- KWMR applied for and received a Bridge Grant [NYT gift link] from the Public Media Company, and we’re making the most of all of our local wisdom and resources to move sustainably into the future.
- The station is working hard to achieve its fundraising goals. We were successful in meeting our End of Year Goal! Thank you!!
After being knocked down by this grungy cold illness that is floating around for most of January, I am well. I have climbed out of the traumatic period caused by the Rescission Act of 2025. I am encouraged by the possibilities that I am discussing with my incredible team and our community partners! KWMR is very fortunate to be in this supportive community.
Did anyone else out here feel the little earthquake in West Marin that originated in San Ramon? Game me pause, and got me thinking about updating my “go bag” and reviewing my emergency plans. Ready Marin is a GREAT resource for this.
Hope you can join us at Sweethearts of the Radio! See info below for details.
