When I was a kid I watched a lot of television, especially in the winter. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest it got dark around 4 PM so when we got home from school we would pile onto the couch in our dad’s office room and watch a very small black and white TV. Leave it to Beaver, Gilligan’s Island, Sesame Street, Electric Company, The Munsters, The Brady Bunch, and Happy Days are the shows that come immediately to mind that we watched on that tiny boob tube.

I have always kind of enjoyed ads on TV, and it may be one of the only reasons that I watch the Super Bowl when I can (although I do love some NFL). All those fun commercials for Ginsu knives, Chia Pets, and K-Tel music compilations. 

I can to this day recite the entire Connie Francis medley, although disappointingly I could not find a video that matched my recollection.

I’m back at the office after a very nice V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N. in the summer sun, mostly. It was super nice of my pal Carolyn Helmke to hop in with her two cents, helping KWMR raise some funds. Thanks to everyone who contributed!

Of course the stalwart KWMR team kept the airwaves active with excellent programming while supporting the many amazing volunteers that make KWMR all of the awesome that it is when you turn on your radio, fire up the mobile App or stream live programming or archives. 

Breaks are a good thing to take, and I’m refreshed and happy to be back in the saddle. 

So, Al Di La, Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool, VACATION, Never Never on a Sunday, Don’t Break the Heart that Loves You So!
